Bill Strong's Principles for RSF

My Principles developed from prior service and contemplation:

Represent all Member’s long-term interests in a fair and honest way.

All discussions must be cordial, factual, fair, neighborly, wise, and in the long-term interests of all members.

Protect our historic rural uniqueness.  No density increases in our 1, 2, and 2.86 ac residential zones.  Protect the Covenant.

Focus On our Future.   Example:  Time for Rancho 2020 Committee to address future issues, including attractiveness and RE values.

Concentrate on major issues.

Avoid personalization.

Fiscal Conservative. Use assets wisely. Membership vote before major purchases or projects.  Stable or Lower Assessments.

Listen to all Members/Owners including suggestions or criticism without becoming defensive.

Avoid all conflicts of interest, including the appearance, or even the potential for conflicts of interest.

Encourage broadest possible participation:  social, committees, Board, and clubs.

Volunteers are the lifeblood of the Covenant.  Appreciation, turnover, and new blood desirable

Stable regulations that are easily understood and consistently enforced are superior to constant revisions, which are confusing, consume staff time and weaken enforcement.

Remove or defuse potential irritation or conflicts between members whenever possible.

Avoid micro-management.  Give employees goals, responsibilities, support, praise, and review.

Transparency:  Members are part owners and are entitled to reasonable amounts of RSFA info
